Welcome

Welcome to the cyber space meant exclusively for the past and current students of M.Sc Molecular and Human Genetics (MHG) at Banaras Hindu University, India.
At the cost of sounding overtly confident I think MHG is and will always be the BEST M.S course in India. Those who beg to differ ..... should keep begging.

thanks nitin for your initiative. i think if its possible to create a web page or something in which people in favoyr of this alumni can cast their vote and that the rsult sheet can be forwarded to the teachers and that the present MHG batch can further negotiate, with nitin and sayantan doing the rest via mails. i would have loved to correspond with teachers but i guess like me all my batchmates will agree to me for keeping quite for obvious reasons !!!!
MHGans alrady part of any alumni must come up with suggestions.
seniors are specially requsted to atleast make their presence felt......plz plz plz.......
juniors u all need shoulder some responsibilities.
i had discussion with couple of present students and that was trying to get thru them the idea of a MHG logo and to materialize the mhg tea-shirt which our batch tried to initiate. the tea/sweat shirt on this alumni occassion can a good option. what do you all feel??????

Hi guys better late than never..... I agree this MHG Blog spot is a great idea...!
I am sure most of us have very good n innovative ideas to take this ahead...but a official stamp on it will make it stronger...bt talkin to our faculties is as konko said.....all of us prefer silence...n we hav to get them all out of their " goood oold days"! bt wid all d new faculties I think our effort will be better noticed...

both to nitin and ramesh i would like to request for the signature stuff to be done if possible.
ramesh has put in a great idea of account.
i think we should aslo chalk out some academic activity plan with soo many of our students now almost setteled in the field od science as well as industry. in this regard if anyone has any concrete idea the please write it fast.
we must make sure that this alumni is functional
what are all of your suggestion regarding the MHG logo? such things might instigate a better sense of pride in being a part of mhg!
what do u all say???

well...i have a few points to make:
1.from what i uderstand, this blog and its contents are visible to everyone:THAT is one point we should be careful about.from what i have been told more people will join this stuff IF the comments are NOT so publicly viewable.people who have the username and password can view the comments.we have to device a method for that.just the thing about keeping silent that arunima and konko have written could have been written more explicitly if they were SURE that none of the unwanted persons were reading these postings. many such of our expressions get stubbed because we want to express only to the people we trust and not make it available to the whole world for viewing
2.now there are THREE places where ppl are posting suggestions,i.replying to mails to the alumni group,ii.orkut MHG community, and iii.this blogspot.
that makes the comments available for view to few ppl. most read the mails, some the posts on mhg community and few now this blogspot. i feel we need to make all the correspondence through ONE common portal.lest, what happens is that someone who reads all three(like me) have to tell one group of audience what's happening in the other two fronts.subsequently, i miss points.
3.another issue is this: ppl are sending me personal emails with suggestions. as the emails are not viewable to all more than one person is coming up with the same ideas just b'cos they don't know that someone else has already suggested that. i try to make all the suggestions public but i often miss out.this should also be avoided.

good going,
the blog gets people interacting, blabbing....whatever, but this is how ideas and even better ideas come forth. We could use this to obviously strengthen our networks and perhaps help each other in whatever way possible as sd suggested.
Of course we could use such a platform to help other people in the community to get more information about our area of research or something of related interest. Maybe at some point we could also suggest some changes which may be useful in our (masters) syllabus.
will keep thinking,
bye and best to all,
Mukund
